FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How does blocking by prefix work? +

Spammers often dial from blocks of consecutive numbers that share the same opening digits. Enter those shared digits once and Prefixly blocks every number in the range.

For example, the prefix 7713105 blocks 7713105000 through 7713105999 — 1,000 numbers — in a single entry. A shorter prefix blocks more numbers; a full number blocks just that one caller.

Which countries are supported? +

Every country. When you add a prefix you pick the country from a searchable list, and Prefixly defaults to your device’s region. Each country’s number length is handled automatically, so the “numbers affected” count is always accurate.

Calls are still coming through — what should I check? +

Run through these in order:

1. Confirm the extension is enabled in Settings → Phone → Call Blocking & Identification.
2. Tap Apply Changes in the app after any edit.
3. Check the in-app Diagnostics show ran=YES and dataFound=YES.
4. Make sure the prefix actually covers the caller’s number.
5. Try toggling the extension off and on again in Settings.

How many numbers can I block? +

iOS allows roughly 1.5 million blocked entries. Prefixly shows a live count and warns you as you approach the limit. Using longer prefixes (more digits) keeps the count low while still catching spam ranges.

Does Prefixly block unknown or private numbers? +

No. Prefixly only blocks the specific prefixes you add. To silence unknown callers entirely, use Apple’s built-in Settings → Phone → Silence Unknown Callers alongside Prefixly.

Is my data shared or uploaded? +

Never. Your block list stays on your device and is shared only with the on-device blocking extension. Prefixly has no accounts, no servers, and no trackers. See the Privacy Policy for details.

How do I remove or pause a prefix? +

Swipe left on any prefix to delete it, or use its toggle to disable it temporarily without losing it. Tap Apply Changes afterwards so iOS updates.
