Privacy Policy — Hushh
Last updated: 8 July 2026
Hushh is a tinnitus self-management app. The short version: it works fully offline, stores only what you create, never sells your data, and never uses it for cross-app tracking or advertising.
What the app stores
The things you create in the app:
- Your matched tinnitus frequency and therapy preferences (notch width, volumes).
- Journal entries: loudness and annoyance ratings, optional notes, monthly check-in answers, and relief-burst outcomes.
- Listening history: the duration and type of your therapy/masking sessions.
By default this data is stored only on your device, and is used solely to run the app's features.
Accounts (optional) — Sign in with Apple
Signing in is optional and only needed to back up and sync your data across your devices, via Sign in with Apple. We request your name only — never your email — and you may hide even that. We store an Apple-provided user identifier and, if provided, your display name. While signed in, the data above syncs to Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore) under your account and is not shared with other users.
Analytics (on by default, you can turn it off)
The app uses Firebase Analytics to understand which features are used. It is on by default and can be turned off any time in Settings → Privacy → "Share anonymous usage data." Analytics records feature-usage events only (e.g. that a session started or a journal entry was saved). It never includes your frequency, ratings, notes, check-in answers, or relief outcomes. The app collects no advertising identifier (IDFA) and does not track you across other apps or websites.
Third-party services
- Apple — Sign in with Apple (authentication).
- Google Firebase — Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Analytics (privacy details).
What we do NOT do
- We do not sell or rent your data.
- No advertising, no cross-app tracking, no IDFA.
- No location, contacts, photos, or microphone.
- No health data (frequency, ratings, notes, outcomes) in analytics.
Your choices and controls
- Delete data by category in Settings → Manage my data.
- Delete your account in Settings — removes all synced data from Firebase and revokes the Sign in with Apple token.
- Turn off analytics in Settings → Privacy.
- Data is retained until you delete it or delete your account.
Children
Hushh is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
Not medical advice
Hushh is a self-management and educational tool. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, or cure any condition. Consult a qualified clinician for medical advice about tinnitus.
